SPEECH
“Indonesian Culture”
By Jesslyn Elvina
Good morning to the honorable judges and all my friends. First of all, let us say thanks to the Almighty God who has given us His mercies and blessings, so we can gather here to take part in this speech competition. And then let me introduce myself, my name is Jesslyn Elvina, and now I’m in the second grade of Kalam Kudus Social Program Senior High School. Well, today I’m going to deliver a speech about “Indonesian Culture”.
Dear audience, as we know, Indonesia has many cultural backgrounds, tourism sites, wonderful scenery, spices, and friendly people. At traditional history context, Indonesia has a long story, but unfortunately, all of kinds of Indonesian cultures that should have been a pride of this country, accidentally are broken by era. Why? Because the tradition of our country was stained by the foreign culture that influenced the youth thinking, until we are far from tradition arrangement that has built. For example, some youths of Indonesian feel shy when wearing the pride traditional clothes that should have worn by them. One of their reasons why they don’t want to wear the traditional clothes is because the traditional clothes are not funky and they think it is out of date, so they prefer to choose the other culture that doesn’t come from Indonesia and show the bad moral.
What is our reaction as regeneration of this country to continue our leading about this case? We should realize about that all. It’s a power of our country that should have praised. For example, Batik is one of kinds of Indonesian traditional clothes which interested by many people all over the world, of course we are proud of it but unfortunately, the characteristic of nationalism still little.  And now let’s see the east traditional clothes of Indonesia which is still sterile of culture, exactly Papua. They still preserve their culture although it’s impolite, but that’s the real culture, right? Proudly they preserve their culture, without shy at least.
As a teenager we should realize these things, to grow the nationalism and to grow the love for Indonesian culture which is really unique. Indonesia is rich of cultures, like the traditional foods, traditional dances, and also songs and all things that Indonesian has produces and keeps it well to be the culture of this country. We should proud of this. And now, it’s time for us as a regeneration of this country to grow the nationalism and try to respect all of Indonesian culture and proud of it.
I think that’s all about my speech. Thank you very much for your attention, and I’m sorry if there are some wrong words I’ve said. So let us love our culture, save it, grow it and of course be proud of Indonesian Culture! Thank you.
